Types of Laminate Flooring
Laminate flooring has come a long way from your grandmother’s kitchen. Offering the beauty of traditional hardwood with the added benefits of high durability.
Walking on Laminate flooring even sounds like traditional hardwood flooring.
Choose from a variety of colors and styles to mimic the look of real hardwood like pine, maple, cherry and oak.
There are several finishing options, high-gloss or embossed to distressed and white washed.
If you like the look of stone flooring, there are laminate floor tiles with realistic textures made to mimic marble or stone flooring.
The laminate thickness determines how much more resistant to impact and how much quieter the floor is when walked on.
Laminate flooring is sold from 6 to 12 mm in thickness and is measured from the base to the top of the board, not including the underlay.
When determining how much laminate flooring you need, don't guesstimate, calculate.
Call Caruso’s Floors in Spokane, we can help calculate exactly how much you need to complete your home project.

Maintenance Tips
Homeowners love the easy to maintain laminate floors and are less prone to scratches and scuffs.
Laminate is an excellent alternative, if you have children and pets because it stands up to regular wear and tear, and is durable for high-traffic areas.
Cleaning is really easy, all you need is a damp cloth to clean up spills. It is important to blot up as soon as they happen and not to allow liquids to stand on the floor for a long duration of time.
Do not wet mop the floor or use steam cleaners. Steam mops use heated water that forces steam onto the surface of the floor.
The joints in between the laminate planks lock together nicely but they are not waterproof.
Water from the wet mop or steam mop will make its way into the joints causing swelling, warping or delamination which will void the flooring warranty.
To prevent the accumulation of dirt simply sweep, dust or vacuum with the hard floor attachment.
For tough spots like makeup, paint or markers, use nail polish remover on a clean white cloth, followed by a damp cloth to wipe up any leftover residue.
If you happen to get a scratch on the laminate floor there are kits to easily cover it made specifically for laminate flooring.
